Alone and in Pain

Oh, my friend. Do you feel alone? Are you in pain? Whether it is physically or emotionally…  please allow me to share some thoughts with you. This is no great theological idea or some great inspired post that will change your life. It’s just a heartfelt understanding. A way for me to say, I get it. I’m with you.

2017 has been a doozy for me. It’s had some incredible ups and some equally horrific downs.

But what is so wonderful to me is how much I’ve learned through it.

My good buddy and accountability partner–Tracie– and I were just talking on the phone. We both struggle in so many of the same areas, so we’re good for each other to lift up in encouragement and also to say, “I love you, but you’re being stupid…” (Okay, so maybe not in those words, but then again, maybe those words might …

Deficient… Inadequate… Lacking

Over the past few years, I’ve struggled with blogging. (Big surprise to my subscribers.) Not that there weren’t thousands of ideas or things to write about. But something was different. I’d write something and discard it.

Yes, I’ve been busy. Too busy.

Yes, I’ve had deadlines. Which I love.

But I wanted to be real to people – just like I had when I first started blogging eleven or so years ago. Before all the TV hoopla. Before I was a best-selling author. Before people started seeing me as someone famous. I know I’ve written about this kind of thing in previous blogs (trying to explain my absence in some sort of understandable way – you can read those here: http://kimandkaylawoodhouse.com/a-stalker-snow-and-a-superhero/ http://kimandkaylawoodhouse.com/where-have-you-been/ ), but some things have hit me the past few months.

In case you didn’t know, I was at death’s door this past March. We live in …

Apology…

We have a lot of subscribers to our blog and newsletter, and we want to offer up a huge apology. Apparently a blank template went out today from our email service to our subscribers. As we work through fixing the issue, we appreciate your continued support and for all the emails letting us know there was an issue. Below is the blog that should have gone out:

WHY AREN’T WE ALL… HERE?

We’ve just returned from an incredible week up in Estes Park teaching at the 2016 Colorado Christian Writer’s Conference (CCWC) and I’m wiped out. Exhausted. Plum beat.

But it was an amazing time and worth it. So many wonderful people poured into me over the past twenty years as I was learning this craft and it is an honor to now give back to others who are on the journey. I taught the Fiction Intensive Clinic and …

I taught the Fiction Intensive Clinic and also a session at Teens Write and Kayla taught at Teens Write.

But this post isn’t about the beautiful mountains and scenery up at the conference, the incredible classes, or even the precious people — I’ve had something else on my heart for a bit and I’ve been “chewing” on it and want to share with you.

Over the years, I’ve enjoyed reading Joel Rosenberg’s books. A lot. I love his blog. I …

A Stalker, Snow, and a Superhero

So many things hold us back in life. Or should I say, give us the excuse to hold ourselves back… ?? Sometimes that’s true. Lately, for me… yes, that’s true. And in so many ways.

First, I’m just going to say it… I’ve had a stalker. Who was in prison. And now they are not. Let me tell you… that changed my perspective a lot. It’s been a couple years now, but when I first received a letter from this person– this avid reader– well, it was weird. I went through a gamut of emotions over the next several weeks. The sheriff was called, the prison was called, my friends were called… you get the picture. But it didn’t change the fact that it happened. Nothing made me feel “safe” other than knowing in Whose hands I’m held. I backed off of a LOT. Most people just thought I was …
