Deficient… Inadequate… Lacking

Over the past few years, I’ve struggled with blogging. (Big surprise to my subscribers.) Not that there weren’t thousands of ideas or things to write about. But something was different. I’d write something and discard it.

Yes, I’ve been busy. Too busy.

Yes, I’ve had deadlines. Which I love.

But I wanted to be real to people – just like I had when I first started blogging eleven or so years ago. Before all the TV hoopla. Before I was a best-selling author. Before people started seeing me as someone famous. I know I’ve written about this kind of thing in previous blogs (trying to explain my absence in some sort of understandable way – you can read those here: http://kimandkaylawoodhouse.com/a-stalker-snow-and-a-superhero/ http://kimandkaylawoodhouse.com/where-have-you-been/ ), but some things have hit me the past few months.

In case you didn’t know, I was at death’s door this past March. We live in …

Apology…

We have a lot of subscribers to our blog and newsletter, and we want to offer up a huge apology. Apparently a blank template went out today from our email service to our subscribers. As we work through fixing the issue, we appreciate your continued support and for all the emails letting us know there was an issue. Below is the blog that should have gone out:

WHY AREN’T WE ALL… HERE?

We’ve just returned from an incredible week up in Estes Park teaching at the 2016 Colorado Christian Writer’s Conference (CCWC) and I’m wiped out. Exhausted. Plum beat.

But it was an amazing time and worth it. So many wonderful people poured into me over the past twenty years as I was learning this craft and it is an honor to now give back to others who are on the journey. I taught the Fiction Intensive Clinic and …

I taught the Fiction Intensive Clinic and also a session at Teens Write and Kayla taught at Teens Write.

But this post isn’t about the beautiful mountains and scenery up at the conference, the incredible classes, or even the precious people — I’ve had something else on my heart for a bit and I’ve been “chewing” on it and want to share with you.

Over the years, I’ve enjoyed reading Joel Rosenberg’s books. A lot. I love his blog. I …

A Stalker, Snow, and a Superhero

So many things hold us back in life. Or should I say, give us the excuse to hold ourselves back… ?? Sometimes that’s true. Lately, for me… yes, that’s true. And in so many ways.

First, I’m just going to say it… I’ve had a stalker. Who was in prison. And now they are not. Let me tell you… that changed my perspective a lot. It’s been a couple years now, but when I first received a letter from this person– this avid reader– well, it was weird. I went through a gamut of emotions over the next several weeks. The sheriff was called, the prison was called, my friends were called… you get the picture. But it didn’t change the fact that it happened. Nothing made me feel “safe” other than knowing in Whose hands I’m held. I backed off of a LOT. Most people just thought I was …

Heart On A String…

The post below is actually from a draft I wrote years ago. In fact the “Tomorrow” part shows that this was from Sept. 25, 2012. So much has happened since and yet, this blog is still relevant. The same yearnings. The same longings. The same ponderings. :) The post feels incomplete… but I think it’s best that way. So I’m going to leave you with my heart on a string…

Yesterday was a weird day. Thought provoking conversations, do-overs, and ‘what now’s?

Today has been a day filled with sorrow. A precious lady went home to be with the Lord after a long battle with cancer. I know I should be rejoicing that she is no longer in pain, no longer suffering. But it’s still hard to think of her gone… to think of her beautiful, sweet family and the tough days ahead as they face the loss.

Tomorrow is …
